Slot 1 | Random Slot: Wolf's Rain #1 |
| Original release: 2003 |
| Every couple of weeks, we select a new show to feature in the random slot. If you have a suggestion of something you’d like to see here, let us know! |
Slot 2 | Cardcaptor Sakura #8 |
| Original release: 1998–2000 |
| A classic magical girl series from the late ’90s. When Sakura Kinomoto unintentionally releases a set of magical cards, it is up to her to set things aright. (But why exactly were these dire artifacts in her family’s basement in the first place…?) |
Slot 3 | Honey and Clover II (second season) #8 |
| Original release: 2006 |
| A group of students attending art school together learn about life, love, themselves, and one another. This is the second season of the series, continuing from last Spring. |
Slot 4 | Akagi #8 |
| Original release: 2005–2006 |
| A story of high-stakes mahjong gambling. Based on the classic mahjong manga by Nobuyuki Fukumoto (whose distinctive character designs, one must be advised, are VERY POINTY). |
Break | Ame to Yume no Ato ni #5 — Restart at 9:30 PM |
Slot 5 | Legend of Galactic Heroes: Side Stories #32 |
| Original release: 1999 |
| Over hundreds of years, humanity has spread forth to the stars; but though the place and age might change, the nature of man remains the same. This semester will be entirely taken up by the “Spiral Labyrinth” side story, which focusses on the early days of Yang Wenli. |
Slot 6 | Claymore #8 |
| Original release: 2007 |
| In a land torn by violence and plagued by inhuman foes, only a special class of warriors have the ability to fight back against the demonic forces that prey on humans; yet to many, these enigmatic women are perhaps even more terrifying than the beasts they hunt…. |
Slot 7 | Future Boy Conan #6 |
| Original release: 1978 |
| The tale of a young boy and other survivors in a world transformed by a devastating war. This is a classic series from the late ’70s; it is also notable for some of the creators who worked on it—among them Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata (who later co-founded Studio Ghibli) and Yoshiyuki Tomino (of Gundam fame). |
Slot 8 | Kaiji #8 |
| Original release: 2007–2008 |
| The art of high-stakes gambling (other than mahjong). This is based on another manga by Nobuyuki Fukumoto (creator of Akagi), so be prepared for more pointy-faced characters. Note, despite two of these titles in the lineup, the Anime Club does not encourage gambling! So don’t blame us if you go broke and get pulled into some sinister yakuza plot or something. |
Slot 9 | Hyouka #8 |
| Original release: 2012 |
| Houtarou Oreki’s sister asked him to join the Classics Club as a favor to her, to keep it from being dissolved once she left school. He’d rather not—anything that requires expending energy is something he’d prefer to avoid—but he obligingly joins up, only to end up getting involved in various mysteries around school (most of which have nothing at all to do with the Classics Club). |
